A Man's Guide to Hair Products

Mens Hair stylist

The way you style your hair can say a lot about your personality, whether you’re a man or a woman. While some people think of hair care products as being just for women, men can

also take advantage of these products to make their hair look great. The next time you get a haircut in Dallas, don’t leave the salon until you talk to your stylist about how to style your hair at home. There’s a good chance your stylist will recommend some sort of product to give you a consistent, handsome look every day.

Years ago, pomades were better known as hair wax or grease. Today, the formulas have changed so that they aren’t as sticky, and can be washed out easily if that’s what you want. Different pomades have different strengths—some have a light to medium hold so that your hair still moves, while others can be used to give definition to thick and wavy hair. You’ll also find varying levels of shine with pomade, ranging from a matte finish to a high shine.

Hair gel should be used sparingly in most cases, as it can give you a hardened, wet look that is slightly outdated. However, if you are going for a slicked-back look, gel can help you achieve that. Talk to your hairdresser at the salon about different brands so that you find one that won’t make your hair too stiff or leave residue behind.

Hair cream can be the right product for men with different types of hair, from thick to fine or thinning. For thicker hair, cream will condition with just a minimum amount of hold for the perfect tousled look. If you have fine or thinning hair, cream is a good alternative to pomades that could weigh your hair down.

If you need a stronger hold than pomades can provide, styling clay might be the right product for you. Clay is slightly tackier and more textured than pomade, and has a heavier hold to tame even the wildest manes.
